As a painter considers each individual brush stroke in the layering of a painting, a Landscape Architect attempts to achieve the same synergy when designing a landscape. The careful selection of colours and texture help create landscapes which enrich the senses and express the landscape architect’s intention. A diverse range of textures and colours enhance the space and give it its individual sense of place. The cooling smoothness of a palm leaf, the intricacy of a bark, or the enlightened white flower in the morning sun, are all are interwoven into the garden. The patina of time in a landscapes equally important dimension. A garden is not static, it is transitory, in a permanent state of flux. A garden can carry the beauty of time with dignity and grace.
