All Projects | The Creative Use Of Plants - Green Wall
Published: 18 June 2016
Description
Today’s landscape is dominated by impervious surfaces of walls and pavements. There is a lack of space for urban forest in the city. Our role as landscape architects is to address this imbalance. A green wall can maximize the surfaces of green in the urban community and reduce the heat absorption of concrete walls. One of our methods for doing this is through the technique of building vertical structures with plants. The forest and the architecture can inter-mingle to become the green lungs of the city. Through the understanding of canopy-living ephyphites in the tropics, green wall makes use of these plants’ survival technique of soiless growth, Many of the plants that are not suitable for growing in the soil of garden, are now allowed to propagate in tight urban conditions, creating a bouquet of forest.
