Hanging Garden is one of the newest concept for Multi Housing Complex in Batam, Indonesia. The idea is inspired from vernacular architecture in tropical region such as Batam. Batam has undulating features of land. Therefore, most buildings are built on the hill side with great views to the sea. However, the project is located on rather flat area. It does not have the benefit from the hilly site for view and surrounding. We do not give up on the challenge. We strive to create better design based on the character of Batam city. We present the idea of 'Hanging Garden' for this project. The idea is to elevate daily activities on the upper floor. While on the ground floor for Home office or rent such as AirBnb. The design is aiming for Green and better environment for the resident. Similar to traditional vernacular building, The 'Activity' level is elevated on the first floor thus allows better air circulation on the upper level. The resident will get benefit for better ventilation, views, and natural lighting.
