Description

OI House is the residence of a young family in the Western area of Jakarta. The house was designed as a modern house with a high priority on functionality with efficient use of space. Basic architectural principles such as natural ventilation, airflow, & natural lighting are also considered essential factors during the design process. A number of open spaces are scattered throughout the building, such as the inner courtyard, entrance hall, as well as the small back garden. All of them play important roles in ensuring natural lighting & ventilation for all the building's rooms. A concrete roof is used to further maximize the use of space. Wooden decking covers the roof, allowing the inhabitants to utilize the rooftop as a space for gathering. Solid walls dominate the front facade as it was designed to create privacy, particularly for the bedrooms on the upper floor. An interplay of texture and planes adds dynamism to the overall composition.
