Description
As a building or supporting facilities at PDAM Tirtawening Bandung headquarters complex, Maaimaskuub Mosque has been standing long enough and through several renovation. As PDAM Tirtawening Bandung President Director, Mr. Soni Salimi wanted more representative mosque. The mosque was originally one-story, but developed into two-story so that it can accommodate more worshippers and become new icon at PDAM Tirtawening Bandung headquarters complex. PDAM presents as a service company that is committed to serve the needs of clean water for the citizens. Collaborate with architect Angky Abiyasa, to start the development of mosque design with water concept. Without cutting down trees, pools of water replaces existing garden almost around the mosque. From certain human scale points, it looked as if the mosque floating on water. Facade / secondary skin concept is transformation of whirlpool shape and tawaf direction to the Kaaba. As well as the blue facade is the color of PDAM Tirtawening Bandung logo. Beside that, the pool also found in imam area with open walls to front side outdoor area. Holes in the walls later would become capturing area and frame existing vegetation in front of it,“Stolen Vista”. Aside from providing air circulation and natural illumination, those holes or the view capturing area of existing trees expected to make worshippers more solemn when pray, contemplation.
