After utilising the house for storages for about 20+ years, the warehouse space were undergo major renovation despite numerous limitations. The house than later purchased for living purposes by a newly-wed. The current layout was old, closed and segmented and did not suit the needs of the clients, who opted for a large kitchen, central living space and resolved privacy issues.The entire exterior of the house is clad with hollow metal. Other changes were focused only on the redesign of the interior space. The majority of new elements were custom-made fit out. From the new layout of the common area, that previously contained the living room and the closed bedroom, the designer removed the bedroom and turned back of house into a garden and services area. The garden allowed for some greenery to be planted and by doing so, adding fresh green element to the space and reduce the overall temperature of the house. The layout is proposed to resolve privacy issue where the back area and all services are put at the back of the house, and the helper use different circulation of spiral staircase for going up to the first floor. The old closed kitchen at the back of the house was relocated and replaced by an open kitchen to the living room, allowing for cooking and preparing while entertaining and socializing at the same time. The new kitchen contains a large island working space that is connected to the dining table.The space underneath the stair allowed for more storage space for newly-wed’s tableware and wedding gifts. The bedrooms and more private sections were placed on the first floor, while more public sectors such as living, dining and kitchen were place on the ground floor. The outcome is a light open and airy house that met the newly-wed's requirements: being functional, spacious and thoughtful planning of privacy issues.
